Mr Robinson spoke of MASH Trust’s main focus as an organisation in supporting the citizens of our city. Established in 1990, the Trust was a socially orientated organisation with almost three decades of social and economic contribution to Palmerston North.

MASH Trust works collaboratively with Palmerston North City Council with a focus on social and community housing. An example being the partnership of the Trust with PNCC and MidCentral DHB is the LUCK venue, which provides social connection for those becoming isolated.

The Trust was well positioned to continue its growth in areas of demand, workforce and funding with national initiatives at present including mental health, social housing, addiction recovery and counselling services. MASH Trust is a significant employer in the region, recruiting for up to 50 vacancies at any one time.

The Trust received $30 million in funding annually and contributed more than $100 million in direct spending to the Palmerston North/Horowhenua district over the last five years. Looking to the future, the Trust is keen to align central government funding with the way the organisation operates.

Mr Robinson highlighted that in Palmerston North the Trust had an excellent network of Non-Government Organisations and different organisations that have they have teamed up with to enable MASH Trust to deliver more.
