Petition - Judder Bars on Puriri Terrace Chris Morgan, resident of Puriri Terrace presented a petition (signed by 33 residents) requesting that Council install judder bars on Puriri Terrace to improve the safety of the road. Mr Morgan made the following comments: · Puriri Terrace is a straight narrow street that links directly to Vaultier Park, netball and tennis courts and Fryberg Swimming Pool. The carpark and street are used daily by teachers, hospital staff and students to park on and is often full. · Residents are concerned with poor vision when leaving properties, (due to the number of parked cars and the high volume of traffic) and the high speed being travelled by many cars on the narrow road. Particularly on Saturday mornings – with the school sport and at nights by street racers. · High speed has caused some very near misses, damage to parked vehicles and made the street unsafe for residents and pedestrians · Would like to see Council install judder bars on Puriri Terrace to slow the speed of the traffic and make the road safer for all users. An additional recommendation was moved seeking a further report on solutions to improve the safety of Puriri Terrace. This would ensure that all options are considered rather than just installing judder bars. |
